Name Correction Calculator

Name correction is the most talked-about practice in Indian numerology: instead of changing a name, you change its spelling by a letter or two so that its Chaldean total becomes friendly to your Birth and Destiny numbers. This page tells you whether your current spelling already suits your date of birth — and if it does not, which small edits would move it.

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.

How a one-letter change moves the number

Every letter carries a Chaldean value, so adding, doubling or removing a single letter shifts the whole total. An H adds 5, an A adds 1, an M adds 4. That is the entire mechanism: the name sounds the same, the number does not.

Three moves cover almost every correction you will see:

MoveExample patternEffect on the total
Double a letterRajkumar → Rajkummaradds that letter's value again
Add a letterUrfi → Uorfiadds the new letter's value
Drop a vowelDevgan → Devgnsubtracts that vowel's value

Names people point to

Several Indian film figures are widely reported to have changed a spelling on numerological advice. Ajay Devgn dropped the "a" from Devgan on numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani's suggestion. Rajkummar Rao, born Rajkumar, added a second "m" at his mother's suggestion. Ayushmann Khurrana's spelling was set by his father, an astrologer. Uorfi Javed changed from Urfi, also on Jumaani's advice, and Abhishek A Bachchan added a standalone initial.

One correction worth making: Hrithik Roshan is often cited as "Rithik who added an H", but he was born Hrithik. The family surname came from his father's screen name, not from numerology. It is a good illustration of how these stories grow in the retelling.

What this calculator does

It works out your Birth and Destiny numbers from your date of birth, takes the Chaldean total of the name you type, and tells you whether that total is friendly, neutral or an enemy to both. If a change would help, it applies the three moves above and keeps only the spellings whose new total is friendly — never one that would make things worse. Each suggestion shows exactly which letter changed.

For the plain value of a name without the correction logic, use the name numerology calculator or the Chaldean calculator.

Before you change anything

A spelling change is only worth making if you actually use it. Numerologists treat the name you are called and sign as the one that matters, which is why most people start with social profiles, email signatures and their signature itself rather than legal documents. A legal name change in India means an affidavit, a gazette notification and updates across every ID — a much bigger decision than numerology alone should drive.

Frequently asked questions

Does changing my name spelling really work?

Numerology holds that the vibration of a name changes with its spelling. There is no scientific evidence for it, so treat this as a belief-based practice. The practical argument people make is that it costs little to try on social profiles and a signature before touching anything legal.

Do I need to change my name legally?

No. Most practitioners say the name you are called by and sign with is the one that counts. Start with how you write it day to day — social profiles, email signature, how you introduce yourself. A legal change is a separate and much larger decision.

Which name should I enter — full, short or with surname?

The one you actually use and hear. If people call you by your first name alone, check that too; many numerologists read the commonly used name rather than the full legal one.

Why does the calculator not suggest some spellings?

It only shows spellings whose total is friendly to both your Birth and Destiny numbers, or at worst neutral. Anything that would move your name onto an enemy number is filtered out rather than offered.

My name total is already good — should I still change it?

No. If the calculator says your current spelling is friendly to both numbers, leave it alone. Changing a name that already suits you has no upside in this system.
