Zodiac Sign Calculator
Your sun sign is decided by where the sun sat on the day you were born. This calculator gives the sign, its element, quality and ruling planet — and then does something most zodiac pages do not: it checks that ruling planet against your Birth and Destiny numbers, because in Indian numerology every planet already owns a number.
Where astrology and numerology meet
The two systems are separate traditions, but they share a vocabulary: planets. Leo is ruled by the Sun, and in numerology the Sun is 1. Taurus and Libra are ruled by Venus, which is 6. So a sign can be translated into a number and read against the numbers your date of birth already fixed.
| Sign | Dates | Element | Ruler | Number |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | 21 Mar – 19 Apr | Fire | Mars | 9 |
| Taurus | 20 Apr – 20 May | Earth | Venus | 6 |

| Cancer | 21 Jun – 22 Jul | Water | Moon | 2 |
| Leo | 23 Jul – 22 Aug | Fire | Sun | 1 |
| Virgo | 23 Aug – 22 Sep | Earth | Mercury | 5 |
| Libra | 23 Sep – 22 Oct | Air | Venus | 6 |

Sun sign, not rashi
This is the Western (tropical) sun sign — the one used by newspaper horoscopes worldwide. Indian Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac and your moon sign (rashi), which is calculated from the moon rather than the sun and needs your time and place of birth. The two often differ by one sign. If a priest or astrologer has given you a rashi, that is the Vedic one and this page does not replace it.
Cusp birthdays
If you were born on the first or last day of a range, the calculator tells you so. The sun actually changes sign at a particular hour, which shifts by a day between years, so a cusp birthday genuinely can fall either side. Only a chart cast for your exact birth time settles it.
What to do with the number
If your sign's ruling number is friendly to both your Birth and Destiny numbers, it is one more number worth keeping around — in a PIN, a password or the total of a mobile number. If it clashes, that is not a problem to fix; it simply means your sign and your numbers pull in different directions, which most people find is a fair description of themselves.
Frequently asked questions
Is this my rashi?
No. This is the Western sun sign. Rashi is the Vedic moon sign, calculated from the moon's position using your exact time and place of birth, and the two frequently differ.
I was born on a cusp — which sign am I?
The sun changes sign at a specific hour that shifts slightly year to year, so a birthday on a boundary day can fall either side. The calculator flags it; only a chart cast for your birth time can decide.
Why does my sign have a number?
Each sign has a ruling planet, and Indian numerology already assigns a number to every planet — Sun 1, Moon 2, Jupiter 3, Rahu 4, Mercury 5, Venus 6, Ketu 7, Saturn 8, Mars 9. That shared vocabulary is what lets the two systems be compared.
Do two signs share a planet?
Yes. Taurus and Libra are both ruled by Venus, Gemini and Virgo by Mercury, Capricorn and Aquarius by Saturn in the traditional scheme, and Aries and Scorpio by Mars. They share a number without sharing a personality.
Does my zodiac sign change my lucky mobile number?
Not on its own. The mobile number rules on this site run on your Birth and Destiny numbers. The sign adds one more number to prefer, not a different system.
